Minder
A fun new novel by Kate Kaynak
WARNING: SPOILERS
(These spoilers are not enough to keep you from enjoying this fun book.)
Have you ever given “the evil eye” or wished someone dead? If so, be careful what you wish for. For 15 year old Maddie Dunn, such simple thoughts could bring agony and even death to those around her.
After three teenage boys are found dead after attacking Maddie, she is taken from her home and driven to a new school, Ganzfield, where others who can use their minds to achieve great things are found. But even among these unusual kids, G-forces, they’re called, Maddie finds she is still a rare Minder. She not only reads minds, she can project her nightmares into others’ dreams, can send pain through her thoughts if she is angry or scared enough.
Terrified, she escapes the onslaught of thoughts mingling with her own and finds sanctuary in an old church, only she is not alone. Trevor Laurence, the school’s only telekinetic, stays there, hiding from the powers he exhibits in his sleep, and becomes her solace and her new boyfriend.
When Trevor is kidnapped, Maddie, along with a few others who don’t fear her abilities, learn of a plot to overthrow Ganzfield and to take over governments by using the powers of G-forces. The group of teens thwart their plans. For now. And bring Trevor back to the school injured, but alive.
With Maddie’s powers to injure and kill with her mind, she is looked at to learn the control needed to take down this evil plan at controlling their kind. Whether she’ll pull it off or not, we’ll find out in book two, Adversary.
Minder is a fun, perfect read for anyone who looks for love, excitement, and a great plot. I greatly enjoyed the easy reading novel. It just goes to show that love comes at the most unusual times, and in the last place you’d look. And that even outsiders can find their other half when fate intervenes.
My daughter and a few of her teen friends stole the book off my shelf and loved it too.
You can pick up Kate Kaynak’s Minder from Spencer Hill Press at Amazon, along with Adversary. And book three in the series, Legacy, comes out in January 2011. To learn more about Kate’s books visit her site www.ganzfield.com.
