The heoine of my WIP (a regency vampire romance,) believes in ghosts and aspires to be a horror novelist some day. Unfortunately, when she sneaks into the Duke of Burthrath’s mansion looking for said ghosts, she trips on the stairs and sprains her ankle. The vampire Duke discovers her, and instead of cooperating with her plans to destroy her reputation, he
offers her marriage.
And, to add insult upon injury, there were no ghosts in his mansion.

Kate does not believe in ghosts. If she thought she saw one, she would go make sure to get the full physical and psychological evaluation at The Academy.

Very interesting idea!
I think both of my protags would be surprised to see a ghost, but would take it in stride.
