I love football. The hitting. The runs. Ball soaring. Wide hands grabbing. Did I mention hitting?
I love FOOTBALL!
And like any love affair, I hate it as well. It brings me such great joy one minute, then churns my stomach and makes me want to cry the next.
What brings your characters joy one minute and misery the next?

For Samantha, the answer would have to be Andrew. Life’s hard when you’re seventeen and center it around a boy.

Angelica is a nineteenth century daughter of a countess who aspires to be a gothic authoress. She loves weaving dark tales with her pen and hates the fact that her being a noble female and expected to make a decent marriage holds her back from her dreams.

I love football too! Go Ravens! Woot! What brings my characters misery and joy? What else? Love. Isn’t all love of some sort?

I don’t think that Zili even knows what makes her happy. She feels obligated to do things, so she does them. She likes the result of helping others, but she helps people out of moral responsibility not because of joy….

ooooh, great question and one I’m going to have to think about. For my next WIP (that is still all in my head) I think it is baking – it can turn out perfect or burnt to a crisp.

Ah… for one of my characters, it’s dance. She adores it — lives and breathes it — but it’s also broken her heart before, through injuries, rejections by the crowd, and catty community politics. I’d never thought about it that way before… excellent question.

Jane’s greatest source of misery and joy is her sister, Nell. They are fraternal twins and are opposite in both looks and personality. “The only time we didn’t fight was the nine months we spent in our mother’s womb.”
