Good to Know You

My husband wants a dog. I am not what you would call “a dog person”.

I don’t like dogs. Not even a little. They smell bad. They try to lick you. They jump. They bark. The give your legs some pretty awkward hugs, over and over and over and over again. They drool. They are a lot of work! I’m already taking care of three kids and a husband. I really don’t need to add a dog to that.

My kids on the other hand love dogs, as does my husband, so I’m feeling a bit outvoted.

What would your characters do it their significant other brought home a dog they were not expecting? Are they “a dog person”? If not, why? Is it the smell?

What kind of dogs have you been sniffing? The only smelly dogs I’ve met are ones whose owners let them run through stinky things! Admittedly, I’m not really a dog person, but that’s just because of the effort involved… but there are some very sweet dogs out there who neither jump nor drool nor stink nor ‘hug your leg’. Lol.

But anyway… one of my MCs greatly prefers birds over all other animals, though I don’t think she’d react adversely to a dog. She might turn her nose up at first, but I think over time she’d break down and come to love it…

Alexis is too much of a free spirit to have a dog.
Peyton has one, I’m sure of it. Haven’t written it in yet, but he’s there. Yep, just decided it’s a he (or was told…I’m never sure).
Kyle..hrm..she’d like to have a dog. I think her parents have one that’s *supposed* to be hers, but she’s way too irresponsible and just too much of a teen who’d rather party than be home and take care of a dog..kinda sad.

And to think, I knew none of this before I started writing this comment…. Love it!!!

My husband is leaning towards boxers. UGH! I just don’t like dogs in general. But they LOVE me. I hate that!

Eden my newest character is Alexis as well. How did you come to chose that name? I actually searched all name its the “meaning” of her name that made me chose it. All the characters in my newest book were chosen due to the meaning. I should right a post on that! LOL

Haha – my WIP is called The Dogwatchers, and the protagonist is helping to look after five dogs, most of them large.
