Keeping the Sanity

I initially want to point out that I think it is impossible as a writer to keep the sanity. Maybe I am alone in this revelation, but I would put money on the fact that I am not.

As I am getting ready to send my MS off to a publishing house I am finding it very difficult to keep my head on straight. Especially while on top of trying to make it perfectly presentable I am also trying to keep my house clean, keep my kids from sticking forks in the electrical sockets, manage a part time side job, keep up on all my TV shows (Thank the Heavens for DVR!) and make sure everyone is fed.

I have come to the conclusion that something definitely needs to be cut. I’m voting for laundry and cooking.

How do YOU keep your sanity as a writer? Do you often feel overextended? Does time management really exist or is it truly the myth/fairy tail I believe it to be?

Way to go! I’m so happy for you submitting your work! Woo-hoo!!

Time management is really tough. I do my best but often fail!

Congrats on the sub! I cut tv first, then blogging. Never housework, because I’m twisted that way. *grin*

I know how you feel about trying to get it perfect. I’m working on a partial and it’s challenging.

Congrats, and yeah cut tv but getting rid of laundry and cooking are the first to go with me, of course, I don’t watch tv. ;)

I keep telling my kids what my mother told me, “I had you to work for me. When you have your own kids, they can work for you.”

My house still looks like a tornado hit. His name is Matthew and he is 4.

It is always a juggling act…and I never seem to have enough hands.

It’s a total myth! It has to be – otherwise I’m going insane right along with you :)

Pstt … congrat’s on sending your ms to a publisher! I’m writing the last scene on mine and then major editing will rule my life until Christmas!

Congrats on the completed MS…I know how it feels to be “done”…with the writing portion that is! I had to be “MIA” for 8 months when I was finishing my second book.

First, so hoping things go well with your submission! Second, sanity and time management? Those are two words totally foreign to me and to be fair, I think I’d prefer to keep it that way. Yes, being organised has it’s upsides, but chaos makes for far better writing inspiration! Let the flow take hold and watch magic happen.
