Writing and Networking…

So, I thought for a long time about what my niche in this little blog should be, and I think I have decided. I am the queen of all this social media stuff, and I think I will start with a series on how to get your name out there. It’s one thing to write a book, but it’s another to find someone to read it, and the bigger audience you start with, the better off you are!

Over the next few weeks, I will teach you how to start a blog, work a facebook account, set up a linked in account, twitter, and much more. I hope that I can help you find your audience! I promise together we will untangle this crazy web!

For now your assignment is is actually more to help me than you! I need to know what you WANT to know how to use! Are you scared of facebook? Do you think myspace is just for hooking up? Do you think twittering is something that should be done in the privacy of your own home?

I actually have a blog, a FaceBook account, and I occasionally “tweet”on Twitter. But I often feel like I’m bumbling along only partially understanding how to maximize all of that stuff.

Also, the issue of balance is HUGE. If I mess around with social networking stuff all day, I never get any of my “real” work done. I wonder how long I should be spending social networking. And how to use that time most effectively.

Thanks to Jamie, I now Twitter. I Facebook, and have a Myspace account, but don’t use it. I’ve got other things like Linkedlin but don’t understand it either.

I’m so glad you stopped by! I’m lucky enough to call Brenna my cousin and found you through her.

THis topic is perfect, and will help so many bloggers!

I’d love to see more of your writing, too.

Part of my monoamniotic story was in the Jan 09 Ensign in Latter Day Voices if you have a copy laying around. :)

Can you tell me how to publish a book on a phone? Ever since I heard about phone books in Japan I’ve been SOOOO jealous. I want to write a phone book too!

I have no clue, so I can’t be of much assistance. I did use Twitter for a couple of weeks until something misfired. Now I only get tweets from three people. Where did the other 1,086 go that I was following? I’ve submitted a request to Twitter but so far, nothing.

I also use LinkedIn, but, again, I have no expertise in that area.

But if you need to know how to catch bass or what kind of wax to use on a Corvette, I can offer some info in those areas.

I’ll call you to go bass fishing some day. Unless you like to fly fish. I love that!
