Summer of Reading

Most of those who visit this site love to read and write, and although for many, this time of year is hectic, I want to hear what you’re working on and reading. Give us a quick summery of your writing and the name and author of the books you love best that you’ve read so far this summer.

Happy reading and writing.

I’m working on In The Dark, a Romantic Urban Fantasy where Memphis McLoughlin hunts demons to send back to the Underworld. She is the (many times) great granddaughter of a half Druid, half fairy and inherited special weapons to defeat the Sons of Satan.

Now for what I’m reading, anything by Janet Chapman, Johanna Lindsey, Hannah Howell, and Linda Howard. I’m loving historical romances right now!

I’m editing Priestess of the Eggstone, book 2 of my space opera series. I’ve been writing all sorts of weird short stories, no time for novels this summer.

Reading? Mostly stuff I have to read. Blech. But I did enjoy Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia and Tears of Ishtar by Michael Ehart. I have some Andre Norton classics hidden away for when I don’t have to be at work the next day. I’ll stay up all night reading her books and I’m finally old enough my memory is slipping so I don’t remember reading them.

I am currently working on an autobiographical novel that I’ve had in my head for a very long time, now! And I’m currently reading “The Girl in Times Square” by Paullina Simons (even though it’s currently Winter where I am). :-)

I just read this adorable middle grade novel that I’d never heard of before… ‘A Crooked Kind of Perfect’ by Linda Urban. Fantastic message, great writing.

I’ve had a crazy busy summer involving a new baby and a move, so my only writing has been my blog. But I’ve read a few good books, including the one I’m working on now: Come Summer by Isla Morley. Chasing Lilacs by Carla Stewart was probably my favourite read this summer.
